Oil & Gas Revenue Manager

Job Summary

Perform a variety of oil and gas revenue accounting duties, to include recording revenue in

accordance with IFRS, regulatory compliance, monthly close requirements, account

reconciliations, variance analyses, internal controls and other ad hoc requests. This position

reports to the VP Finance and Accounting.



  • Handles most activities associated with the recording of revenue from the sales of oil and gas production, including validating production data and verification of pricing.
  • Prepares general ledger (G/L) account reconciliation report and reconciles and clears balances for assigned accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Prepares sales variance analysis and explains major sales fluctuations on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare and file all necessary regulatory reports and amendments on a timely and accurate basis
  • Ensure accounting and reporting is being performed timely and accurately, in compliance with Company policies.
  • Responsible for researching and staying current on new and proposed regulations to ensure accurate and timely regulatory filings
  • Performs special projects that require knowledge of oil and gas revenue accounting.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Ensure timely resolution of royalty, litigation and property acquisition & disposition issues and requests.
  • Enhance and create new systems and processes to ensure functions are performed in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • Function as project leader on complex projects and ensures successful completion.
  • Demonstrate initiative in seeking additional responsibility.
  • Ensure timely payment of state severance taxes and royalty payments.
  • Work with Land Team in the following areas:
    • Determination of ownership for revenue allocation for oil and gas wells
    • Maintaining accurate royalty disbursement
    • Established and maintain ownership on new connects and active leases/units.
    • Assist Land team burden calculations and interest division
    • Assist with input of new leases into BOLO system for tracking
    • Resolve and correspond with owners for revenue discrepancies or other inquiries
    • Assist Land team burden calculations and interest division
    • Estate documents and conveyances in ownership transfers
    • Back up to Land Department to answer owner inquiries (calls, emails, mail, in person office visits) regarding revenue checks, transfers, 1099s, and any other questions; Log and maintain owner inquiry database
    • Back up to Land Department to mentor and resource Division of Interest questions for rotating staff, and departmental peers.


Education and experience

  • Minimum ten years of oil and gas revenue accounting, including experience in a fast-paced organization required.
  • Self-motivated, self-driven and with willingness to work in challenging environments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Possess superior knowledge and understanding of revenue accounting.
  • High attention towards detail and accounting analysis.
  • Work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Detailed knowledge of revenue distribution process required.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel (pivot tables/lookup function) required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word preferred.
  • Working knowledge of BOLO preferred.
  • Working knowledge of revenue, plant and pipeline statements required.
  • Working knowledge of gas balancing and pricing preferred.
  • Flexible with changing priorities.
